Ethan, the first artist, really was not into the book for lots of reasons. He’s blogged about all of that, so I won’t get into it here. He did a great job, regardless, but he’s very happy to be working on other stuff. His eagerness to move onto other things doesn’t read on the pages of book 1, which is really cool and speaks to his talent and professionalism.

For those that don’t dig the new stuff, bummer. Nothing for me to say other than of course we want the book to kick ass, and so of course I read the comments and it spurs me to try and ramp things up. That’s the whole reason I wanted this to be a web-comic in addition to a printed series… There’s no other forum where a creator can see instant feedback and try to adjust. It’s really cool, and I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

In terms of the art… For better or worse, this is going to be a story of several volumes and several artists each with their own style and take– each chosen for the part of the story and time period they’re drawing.

I’m not here to say “Hey, dig it!” Of course I want to make things kick ass. BUT, I did want to clarify that if the issue is “new artist, old artist”, then prepare to see LOTS of new artists– and if comparing them is your deal then you’ll have lots to compare.

I’m an art geek. I was an art student before I was a writer. I’m a huge Bruce Timm fan. A fan of Simon Bisley art. I love Frank Quitely, and Adam Kubert. Dude, I want to see tons of stories, with tons of different JC action. JC is a story involving time travel, where I think it makes sense to explore different comic art. If you’re into that, then I think you’ll dig where we’re going.

Anyways, thanks for reading. There’s a gigantic robot with a monster cock coming. So we’ve got that going for us. And that’s nice.
