So, not quite news. But the 2nd script of Jesus is finished. It’s a thick-un. The script for Book 1 was about 28 pages. But since Ethan was the co-writer and him and I worked closely every day on other projects, neither of us did layout breakdowns in the script. So it was like 28 pages in film format, just dialogue and action.

About halfway through Book 2, Ryan and I realized since we were working long distance, I probably should be doing panel layouts and doing comic scripts the way the pro’s do them. So, that makes this script for book 2 like 65 pages long. It makes me pretty excited, because even though I’ve got the rest of the entire storytline outlined, it’s not in full script format. When I get done with it, this whole enchilada will be over 200 pages. 200+ pages of my inane diatribes and explosive shitting. I went to film school and majored in screenwriting, and I never wrote any one piece of material that large. I’m excited to continue and get this large body of work under my belt. “+50 xp to writing” and all that. I’m eager to level up.

When I finished the 2nd script, I decided to look at the entire Jesus work and see how I’ve grown. It’s pretty neat (to me). I reread the 10 page demo book I did with Val Hochberg (her web comic: www.kick-girl.com), the first graphic novel by Ethan and I, and the work Ryan and I have done. I think it’s working. So long as I keep writing every night, I think I’m definitely getting better chops.

So I thought I’d do the same for my other passion: Filmmaking.

I’ve started making little 5 minute scenes, every Sunday. I do a quick script in the morning, shoot it with a small group of friends for 2 hours in the afternoon, and edit it that evening. It felt great, and I already learned some things I’d do differently. I’m going to do this every week.

They won’t be ass kicking. It’s mostly dialogue and scenes focused on acting, direction, shooting, and editing. But if you guys want to see them, let me know by leaving comments below. I’ll gladly start posting some in the news section. Again, they are rambly bullshits. But your comments show up in my email every morning and I’m starting to recognize some familiar users here.  Let me know if you familiar dudes want to see that garbage.  If there’s any filmmakers amongst you, I wouldn’t mind chatting it up in comments about anything.  Otherwise, keep reading the Jesus comic.  Many many more adventures ahead of us.

Speaking of which: Is there any merchandise you guys are eager to get? If I made up some Jesus T-shirts, calendars, clocks, etc would you guys buy that shit?  I had a t-shirt up for pre-order for awhile, a few years ago, but no orders came in.  Things may have changed, so I want to see if there’s any renewed interest in that stuff.
